I'm getting a message that says "Sorry, the resolution of the image below isn't sufficient for this product." What should I do?
Unfortunately, this means that the photo you've uploaded isn't usable, and you will have to find a new one. Low resolution files cannot be sufficiently "up-sized" to make them work.
Oftentimes, pictures that are posted online (i.e. Facebook) or emailed are reduced in resolution. Using the original version of a picture is the best option for maintaining sufficient size and quality. If someone is emailing a photo to you, ask them to send it with the highest quality setting available.
What are the file requirements for the photos that I upload?
We prefer JPEG (.jpg) files, but can also accept PSD and PDF files. After uploading, the website will assess your photo and ensure that the minimum resolution requirements are met for the custom jigsaw puzzle that you want to order.
For experts: If you're designing your own image, please size the image to the dimensions of the photo puzzle that you intend to order, with an additional 1/4 inch; on both the length and width. Portions of the excess will get cut-off in the puzzle-making process. Use a resolution setting between 150 to 300 pixels per inch. Prior to uploading, save your image as a JPEG file.
What are the photo puzzles made of?
Our photo puzzles are made from a sturdy paperboard/cardboard material, similar to the highest quality puzzles you will find in stores. Your custom jigsaw puzzle is made to be handled, and the puzzles can be put together many times.
How large are the puzzle pieces?
The piece sizes vary greatly in both size and shape. Depending on the custom jigsaw puzzle that you order, the general piece sizes are:
- 768 and 1,008 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately .70 in. X .70 in.
- 252 and 513 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately .80 in. X .80 in.
- 300 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately 1 in. X 1 in.
- 204 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately 1.25 in. X 1.25 in.
- 12 and 99 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately 1.5 in. X 1.5 in.
- 15, 30, and 48 Piece Photo Puzzles: approximately 3.5 in. X 3.5 in.
Can I have the puzzle shipped to a different location?
Yes. The Portrait Puzzles check-out process allows you to enter a shipping address that differs from the billing address.
